Gardening & Nursery Catalogs You Can Request by Mail
Six garden catalogs you can request by mail
Six mail-order garden companies will send you a print catalog if you ask, and each sells something different. White Flower Farm is a family-owned nursery that sells perennials, bulbs, shrubs and vines. Breck's ships flower bulbs from Holland. Gurney's mails a full-color catalog of plants, seeds and gardening supplies, fruit trees among them. Gardener's Supply began as a catalog company selling products for easier gardening and now sells its own cedar garden beds. Territorial Seed sells seed and ships transplants in spring. Johnny's Selected Seeds sells seed to home gardeners and commercial growers, plus live plants such as bare-root strawberries.
White Flower Farm sends no catalogs or orders outside the lower 48 states. Territorial mails its catalogs within the United States only. Johnny's online form covers the U.S. and Canada, and readers in other countries request by email. Some Gurney's offers appear only in the printed catalog.
Three of the six have the same owner, Gardens Alive. Gurney's is Gardens Alive, Inc. d/b/a Gurney's Seed and Nursery Co., Breck's is Gardens Alive, Inc. d/b/a Breck's, and Gardens Alive completed its purchase of Gardener's Supply in August 2025. Five of the six say the print catalog is free. The Gardener's Supply catalog page does not list a price.
White Flower Farm: perennials, shrubs and bulbs from Connecticut
White Flower Farm is a family-owned mail-order nursery in northwestern Connecticut and has been in business since 1950. It sells perennials, annuals, bulbs, shrubs and vines, as well as amaryllis, gardening tools and supplies, and gifts for gardeners.
You can get its Spring catalog free through the order form on its request page. It should arrive in 2 to 3 weeks.
The main limit is geography. The farm cannot send catalogs or orders outside the lower 48 states, so gardeners in Alaska, Hawaii or outside the U.S. can get neither the catalog nor the plants. Phone: 1-800-503-9624.
Breck's: Dutch bulbs and perennials
Breck's has sold flower bulbs shipped directly from Holland for over 200 years. Hardy perennials are the exception: those grow in the company's U.S. greenhouses. Bulbs and bareroots ship from Holland at the right planting time for your region, so a fall bulb order arrives when it can go into the ground. Bareroot perennials stay in the nurseries until they are fully dormant, so fall shipments of them can arrive later in the shipping window.
Asking for a catalog puts you on the mailing list, and you get the next catalog Breck's publishes.
Shipping covers the 48 contiguous states only, so Alaska and Hawaii are out. Charges depend on order size, from $10.95 on orders up to $40.00 to $20.95 on orders of $100.01 and over.
The print catalog matters for one payment option. Breck's Credit, its buy-now, pay-later offer, works only on mail orders, using the Express Order Card in the catalog. The first payment is due 25 days after the merchandise arrives. Offer codes from a catalog or mailing go in the "Discount code or gift card" box at checkout. Only one coupon or discount applies per order, and offers cannot be combined, so compare them and use the larger one.
If an item is unavailable or does not meet Breck's quality standards, the company may substitute a similar item of equal or greater value and mark it on the packing slip.
Breck's Lifetime Guarantee on bulbs and bareroots has no time limit, and you don't have to return the plant. Garden décor and tools can be returned within 60 days, and potted amaryllis are covered for 30 days with proper care. To stop the catalogs, contact Customer Service with your name, address and account number if you have one.
Gurney's: fruit trees, plants and seeds since 1866

Gurney's Seed & Nursery Company
Gurney's specializes in vegetable and garden seeds, nursery plants, fruit trees, shrubs, garden plants, and fertilizers.
Home gardeners have bought from Gurney's since 1866. Its free, full-color catalog covers plants, seeds and gardening supplies, and the shop has its own fruit-tree section, apple trees included.
Some vegetables are sold only to Gurney's customers, among them Gurney's Gotta Have It Sweet Corn, Gurney's Perfect Pickle Hybrid Cucumber and Gurney's Girl's Best Hybrid Tomato. Varieties are grown and tested before they go into the catalog.
Testing happens at a 20-acre farm among the corn and soybean fields of Tipp City, Ohio, in Zone 6. The farm has an orchard, a vineyard, brambles, berry plantings, ornamental beds and a large vegetable garden. Fruits and vegetables there get very little pesticide, if any, so the trials resemble home-garden conditions.
The printed catalog carries special offers available only in print. A digital version of the Fall 2026 catalog lets you turn pages, magnify text and images, and add items to your cart as you browse. Phone: (513) 354-1492.
To stop Gurney's catalogs, send a note to Customer Service with your first and last name, address and account number if you have one.
Gardener's Supply: a Vermont catalog company
Will Raap founded Gardener's Supply in 1983 as a mail-order catalog company. It offered products from around the world for better, easier gardening and was one of the first to sell enabling products for aging and physically challenged gardeners. Its first offices, test garden and warehouse opened in Winooski, Vermont, in 1984. Products for composting, weather protection, water conservation and organic gardening sold best in those early years. It was 100% employee-owned from 2009 until the 2025 sale, and the new owner said the employee-owned model would not carry over.
Its signature products include its own cedar garden beds. In 2019 its Vertex Tomato Cages and Bamboo Light Gardens won the Direct Gardening Association's Green Thumb Award. They were the company's 33rd Green Thumb award-winning product.
The catalog is printed on paper with at least 10% post-consumer recycled fiber, certified by the Forest Stewardship Council. Gardener's Supply has bought carbon offsets and calls the result the nation's first carbon-neutral catalog.
If you receive duplicate copies or too many catalogs, call 812-260-2128 to change your preferences or come off the mailing list. The company updates the list each time a new catalog goes out. The same number takes orders, and there is a digital catalog if you don't want to wait for the mail. All orders over $199 ship free.
Territorial Seed: seed, transplants and two seasonal catalogs
Territorial has been family owned since 1979 and has printed a catalog for as long. It offers a 100% guarantee on all products.
It puts out two catalogs. The Spring 2027 catalog is in final preparation and will be mailed in late December or early January. A separate Fall & Winter catalog covers growing fresh vegetables through the colder months. All catalogs are mailed within the United States only.
Territorial trials new items, and only proven performers make it into the catalog. The print catalog does not carry everything: Territorial sells over 400 varieties online only.
Transplants ship, depending on availability, only in half-month windows: the first or last half of March, April or May.
Johnny's Selected Seeds: for home gardeners and commercial growers
Johnny's is taking requests for its free 2026 print catalog. The form asks what kind of grower you are: Home Gardener, Commercial Grower, Government or School/University. An optional field asks for your main growing method, with choices that include Certified Organic, Conventional Hydroponic, Field Grower, Greenhouse Grower and Landscaper. The form also requires a daytime phone number. U.S. and Canadian addresses use the form; requests from other countries go by email.
While you wait for the mail, you can browse three shoppable digital catalogs: the full 2026 catalog, a Wholesale catalog and a Hydroponic Head Lettuce catalog. The site also offers a printable order form, a wholesale application and a commercial credit application.
Johnny's sells more than seed. Its range includes live plants such as bare-root strawberry plants. Standard shipping is free on orders over $200.
Schools and nonprofits
Gardener's Supply, Johnny's and Territorial each publish a program for schools or nonprofits.
For schools starting a garden, Gardener's Supply offers educator discounts, plus grants for raised beds, composting, tools and more. You contact its public relations team by email, and the page does not list the discount amount. Its municipal community-beautification accounts are not taking new customers.
Johnny's runs a Community Requests program with narrow eligibility. The requester must be an agricultural or horticultural, needs-based 501(c)(3) organization. Its programs have to support small- or human-scale, organic or regenerative farming, local food security, healthy eating in young students, or vocational agriculture for teens and adults. Qualifying requests get an in-kind gift of seed or an organization discount. Seed gifts go only to organizations that plant the seeds themselves. Johnny's considers one request per organization every 12 months. Intake of new requests is paused while the company updates the program. The Government and School/University choices on the catalog form only describe the grower. They are not a discount.
Territorial has two programs. Through its Fundraiser Program, an organization gets packets with a catalog and order forms, and it earns 45% on all seed sold. Territorial also donates seed at the end of each year. Donation requests must be in writing on the organization's letterhead and are accepted all year. Selected organizations receive their seed in the fall.
